When Cardinal Ciappi came to Providence College he also received an invitation for a reception from the Union Saint-Jean-Baptiste, which the Cardinal kindly accepted. Founded on May 7, 1900 in Woonsocket, RI., the Union Saint-Jean-Baptiste is a fraternal organization for Franco-Americans living in New England and other states with large Franco-American populations.
