The New England Silversmith; Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design; Providence, Rhode Island; October 23-November 28, 1965; no.84 St. Julia's Women's Club; Weston, Massachusetts; May 25, 1966; no. 3. <br/> Dimensions: H. 4 7/8" D. 7 1/2" L. 8 1/2" 13.26, 14 ozt. <br/> This sauceboat has an elliptical body with convex sides, a scalloped, everted rim, and a wide pouring lip. An open, double-scroll handle with acanthus-leaf cresting is attached to the body. The sauceboat stands on three cabriole legs with double boss body joinings and triple-pad feet. On the front of the sauceboat engraved in script is T E C / August 24th 1762. On the opposite side, also engraved in script, is I B T to E W B, May 31st 1848. |
