Mark: IA, capitals in an oval, on the inside of the top and on the bottom <br/> Engraved: AS <br/> Exhibited: Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Boston, Massachusetts; July 1931 - March 1948. Salve Regina College; Newport, Rhode Island; May 17, 1964; no. 76. St. Julia's Women's Club; Weston, Massachusetts; May 25, 1966; no. 18. <br/> Dimensions: H. 11/32" L. 1 11/16" .57 ozt. <br/> This patch box is the second by Isaac Anthony in the Moore Collection. It is elliptical in shape and the top is engraved with a narrow border of stylized leaves. Enclosed within the border is a design of overlapping scrolls and leaves. The initials AS are engraved in block letters on the bottom. Scratched along the outside rim of the bottom is the number 5502. This was probably added by a jeweler who handled the box. |
