Mark: D R, capital initials in a rectangle, left of the handle below the rim <br/> Engraved: E A S <br/> Exhibited: Salve Regina College; Newport, Rhode Island; May 17, 1964; no. 101. <br/> Dimensions: H. 4 3/8" D. 2 1/2" 5.875 ozt. <br/> This helmet-shaped creampot is typical of those being crafted at the end of the eighteenth century. The body stands on a round foot attached to a square base. The everted lip in encircled with beading. Beading can also be found around the foot and along the high strap handle. The initials E A S are executed in bright-cut engraving. They are located on the front of the body. |
