St. Julia's Women's Club; Weston, Massachusetts; May 25, 1966; no. 25. <br/> Dimensions: H. 6 5/8" D. of top 2 3/4" 4.64 ozt. <br/> In the third quarter of the eighteenth century, creampots, like Paul Revere's, began to appear in the inverted helmet shape. This one rests on a circular foot, set on a square base, and has a high reeded strap handle. The lip is curved and elongated There are floral engraved decorations on the body and on the corners of the base. Embellishment in the form of a beaded band of ornament is found under the lip and around the foot. It is engraved C E D in script in an oval on the front. This creampot is possibly from the Higginson family of Boston (Gebelein, Cream Jug by Paul Revere with engraved script, "C E D"). |
