Mark: S : C A S E Y, capitals with a colon, in a rectangle on the bottom <br/> Engraved: P C M <br/> Exhibited: Salve Regina College; Newport, Rhode Island; May 17, 1964; no. 100. <br/> Dimensions: H. 4 7/8" D. of bottom 3 3/8" 11.055 ozt. <br/> This cann by Casey has a bulbous body with the widest part of the body curving sharply above the moulded splayed foot. A slightly flaring mouth is encircled by a rim. The double scroll handle with grip is joined to the cann by a projecting elliptical body at the top and a circular body at the bottom. The handle ends with a double scroll tip. Canns by Casey similar to the one in the Moore collection are found at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum and in the Hammerslough Collection at the Wadsworth Athenaeum, Hartford, Connecticut. Casey's cann in the Moore Collection is engraved with the initials P C M in block letters on the bottom near the mark. |
