Mark: J. Loring, upper- and lowercase italics in a cartouche, below the rim on the side of the bowl <br/> Engraved: C <br/> Dimensions: 4 1/8" D. of top 5 5/8" D. of bottom 3 3/4" 9.075 ozt. <br/> Loring's bowl is semispherical in shape. It rests on a stepped, moulded foot. A reeded border appears on the rim and foot. The initial C is engraved in bright-cut script. The C stands for Cunningham. William Cunningham was a wealthy Boston merchant who was born in 1742 (Gebelein, September 11, 1964). |
