Description
The description below was written by Father Terrence Keegan, O.P., of the Providence College Theology Department.
My brother James F. Keegan, PC 1967, is a member of a large and growing PC family. He is the son of Edward J. Keegan, Sr. PC 1934, the youngest brother of Edward J. Keegan, Jr. PC 1959 and Very Rev. Terence J. Keegan, O.P. PC 1960. Both of his daughters are PC graduates, Maura Keegan Mauch PC 1998 and Cristin Keegan PC 2001. He is also the uncle of Edward J. Keegan III PC 1984, Elizabeth Keegan PC 1985, Michael Keegan PC 1986 and Matthew Keyser PC 2006.
James Keegan was a student at PC 1963 to 1967, a time when the Vietnam War was becoming increasingly unpopular among students and participation in the military was frowned on. At that time some few, like my brother James, were proud to wear the uniform of the PC ROTC program. He was commissioned upon graduation and soon found himself in Vietnam where he honorably served in his nation's army. Upon completing his tour of duty he went on to a successful career eventually retiring as a regional vice president with UBS Paine Weber.
His pride in and loyalty to the US Army is evident to anyone who has watched the annual Army-Navy football game with him.
