Dear Future Friars Oral History Project

The PC Archives aims to engage with all members of the College community and collect a diverse set of narratives that document the culture, history, and activities of the campus through the eyes of students, staff, faculty, and alumni. Video and Oral histories are an important vehicle for capturing and sharing personal experiences that make up the history of our community.

The Dear Future Friars Oral History Project aims to capture the experiences of alumni and cover topics such as the subject’s time at Providence College, their expectations, and realizations as they navigated college. Interviews were conducted over Zoom or in person with recording equipment to capture the interview. All interview recordings are transcribed for access and preservation; they will become part of the College Archives digital collections and part of our historical narrative.

Pilot Round
This initial round of interviews focuses on Black alumni and other alumni of color. Participants reflect on their experiences at Providence College and offer insight and advice to current and future students. This theme came out of a conversation with alumni, who noted the lack of space for people to talk to about being a Black student or student of color at PC.
